Caroline + Jerron

Caroline has helped several brides down the aisle through wedding coordinating for the Grand on Foster venue in Dothan Alabama. But on February 21st, it was finally her turn to experience the wonder of her own Grand wedding. On the morning of her wedding day, she made her way over to our studio (251 S Alice Street) to have her hair and makeup done before returning to the venue to help her bridesmaids get ready. Of all the brides she had seen through her work as a coordinator, she entrusted the job to Deedee and her staff. We had such a wonderful time preparing Caroline and getting her picture-perfect. Her choice of a half-up/half-down soft curl hairstyle complimented her sweetheart neckline dress wonderfully. She started off our 2015 bridal season beautifully!

Congratulations to the newly married couple, Caroline and Jerron Tidmore.

Hair & Makeup for commercial video shoot with Shark Tank Star Robert Herjavec

IMG_2366Yesterday, Monday, January 26th, 2015, DeeDee had the opportunity to do commercial hair and makeup for Robert Herjavec.  Mr. Herjavec is one of North America’s most recognizable business leaders and you may recognize him from the hit TV show, Shark Tank.

DeeDee was approached by Jr. Associate Producer, Bridget McCarthy, and Producer Manager, Briean Nagahashi, to provide commercial high-definition hair and makeup for Mr. Herjavec while he was filming “Beyond the Tank” with Chord Buddy creator, Travis Perry, in Dothan, Alabama.

When Travis entered the Shark Tank, he was more confident than ever of the future success of the Chord Buddy and ready to negotiate with the Sharks. His biggest stipulation was the Ch?ord Buddy will continue to be manufactured here in the U.S.A.

Travis was asking for $125,000.00 and would give up 10% equity stake in the business in return, valuing the Chord Buddy at $1.2 million at that time. Total sales have already surpassed the $500k mark and already has a purchase order with Sam’s Club to place 50 Chord Buddies in all 5000 locations.

The Sharks LOVE this Idea and the offers started coming in from all sides. Interestingly no “sharks” seem to want to partner up on this deal and Travis gets four offers from four Sharks all with the same type of offer, a $125,000.00 for 20% of the guitar learning business. It all comes down to who can help the Chord Buddy Guitar Business the most. In the end, Travis Perry partners with Robert Herjevic for an additional $50k and makes a deal for $175,000.00 and a 20% stake in the Chord Buddy Guitar Business.

DeeDee spent the day with cast and crew at two different shooting locations: The Chord Buddy Offices and Bethel Baptist Church. With an 8:45 AM hair and makeup call, DeeDee got Robert Herjavec camera-ready. Throughout the day, she touched up his hair and make-up during shooting so that he maintained a perfect look.

DeeDee says, “It was an awesome experience! Robert Herjavec was great to work with. Thank you to Sony Picture Studios, FinnMax LLC, and Beyond the Tank for the opportunity to do HD makeup and hair! I enjoyed being on set and spending the day with everyone from the cast and crew.”

Watch for the episode coming next fall. We will keep you updated on when it will air and to look for DeeDee’s name in the ending credits! If you would like to book DeeDee for a commercial shoot please contact here.

Kelley + Chris

For those of you who do not know, Kelley Gibson was a vital member of my beauty team for several years. She was a beautiful makeup artist and helped me on many of our rockin’ Saturdays. Kelley had experience from the pageant community and won swimsuit in her last pageant competition at Miss Alabama USA 2014. Kelley is my organizer, voice of reason at times, and a dear friend. She found love and moved to Washington D.C. this past year. I was so excited to perform some magic for Kelley’s wedding day in November. She had the most beautiful day and we had a wonderful trip. Kelley and her wedding party were flawless. Thank you for allowing us to do your hair and makeup and be a part of your special day! Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Johnson.

It was an awesome experience to meet Kim Gravel, star of “Kim of Queens”, and her family this past week.

If you are not familiar with “Kim of Queens'” it is about one of the country’s most successful and outspoken pageant coaches, Kim Gravel. She is on a mission to find diamonds in the rough and transform them into confident young women in the all-new Lifetime docuseries. At the young age of 16, this former self-proclaimed “ugly duckling” was crowned the youngest Miss Georgia America in the pageant’s history. Now, as the owner and CEO of her business, the renowned Pageant Place, Kim shares her incredible talents and over-the-top, engaging personality with the young, talented hopefuls seeking her sage advice that has proven to take young girls to the top

Learning the personalities that create the chemistry for the show was a lot of fun! So much goes into the machine to keep it rolling and gaining exposure! Congrats to Cindi K McDaniel, owner of Studio EnVogue in Dothan, Alabama, for making herself and our team a part of the amazing adventure. Good luck to all the cast and crew of Kim of Queens. I encourage everyone to watch the upcoming season. It will premier on June 17th on Lifetime TV.
